Anesthesia and pain course for technicians

Lecturer: Dr. Ishai Kushnir – DVM Dip ACVAA

Board Certified of the American College of Anesthesia and Analgesia.

Dr. Ishai Kushnir completed his veterinary studies in 2006 at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After one year of internship small animal medicine at the Beit Dagan University Veterinary Hospital, he continued to work as an anesthesiologist in the anesthesiology department at the hospital. In 2016, he completed his residency in veterinary anesthesia and was admitted to the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia.

Parallel to his position as an anesthesiology, Dr. Kushnir conduct his research on local anesthesia and the physiology of pain. He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the Israel Pain Association.

Anesthesia and Pain

Anesthesia:

Depth of anesthesia – the depth of anesthesia and the effect of anesthesia on the body's systems.

The importance of monitoring under anesthesia and the different ways to monitor the various measures;

Blood Pressure
Stability
Temperature and more.

We will present cases and events that may occur during anesthesia and we will learn how to deal with them.

Pain:
effects of pain on the animal.
Diagnosis and rating of pain.
Pain management options.
The important role of the technician in the patient's pain management system.

During the course you will receive tools that will enable you to be at the stand best in the center of owner, veterinarian and the painful animal triangle.

Course Plan :

09: 00-11: 00 – Monitoring Anesthesia – "The dog does not have a blink reflex, is it okay?"

11: 30-12: 30 – "um … I think he is not breathing" cases and reactions under anesthesia

13: 00-15: 00 – "Miaooo" Pain – Our job as technicians in diagnosing and preventing pain – it starts already in the waiting room …
